Hello, you precious souls! I am welcoming you all to my first-ever blog with a huge smile on my face!

My name? Well, I’m Fatma Sıla Tığlı, but you can just call me Sıla, everyone does! I am a second-year student at Marmara University, currently studying in the English Language Teaching department. My Instructional Technologies and Material Design course is the main reason why I started this blog.

In this lovely blog, I will be posting about my journey in this course. There will be posts about my thoughts, my reflections on the things we cover in the course, and my perspectives on language teaching.

Well, I love sharing my point of view on things, so I think I’m going to enjoy this little blog thing. And I reeeaaally hope you guys won’t leave me alone in this—we’re in it together! Please feel free to comment with any ideas or feedback you have.

Flipped Classroom Approach!

Hey there, everyone! How are you guys? Well, if you wonder how I've been; these couple of weeks have reaaallyy been tough to be honest. It was just submitting one assignment after another and doing one presentation after another... Sometimes I feel like school consumes all my life... But no worries, your girl handles it all, haha! 😎 Anyways, today I'll talk about flipped classrooms and our assignment about them. Let's dive in! Well, a flipped classroom is structured around the idea that lecture or direct instruction is not the best use of class time. Instead students encounter information before class, freeing class time for activities that involve higher order thinking. I think a language classroom could benefit from a flipped classroom approach a lot actually. Language learning is mainly about exposure and practise, and a flipped classroom creates time for these in the classroom. Hey there! How are you guys? Well, I am brilliant ! I think that’s mainly because our midterm week is finally over. What a week! 😷😴 Anyway , today I’m going to talk about podcasts ! In our ICT & Material Design course, we had a task where we had to create a podcast. We were given several options to choose from, and the one I picked was this: “Your task is to create a 60-second (exactly!) podcast to introduce your own inspiring idea to improve the world / to make the world a better place to live in.” My idea was a challenge called “One Good Deed A Day”,  which is also the title of my podcast.
