Digital Storytelling: My Experience!

Hello there!

How are you guys feeling? Well, the weather has started to get better, so I feel better too. :) I hate windy and rainy days, hope they’re over for a while!


Today, I wanted to talk to you guys about digital storytelling! For those who are not familiar with it, digital storytelling is basically the art of combining storytelling with a mixture of digital graphics, text, recorded audio narration, video, and music to communicate information about a specific theme or topic. As you may guess from my previous posts, we learned about it in our ICT & Material Design course. And of course, we were asked to create one!

It was a group project, and we had different types of digital storytelling to choose from. So, my group mates and I chose to do a "How To" project. We thought about what kind of process we could demonstrate, and then the recent and unfortunate earthquake that happened in İstanbul came to our minds. We all experienced it, and it was awful. So, we thought maybe we could do something related to it and decided to make a video on "How to Prepare an Earthquake Emergency Bag."

It was a really fun and inspiring experience, and we all worked in great harmony. We each took part in the video, and I did the audio narration myself! It was soooo fun! I loved narrating. Maybe in the future, I could do more narration projects, who knows?

Anyways, of course, this process wasn’t all fun and games. We struggled to find authentic content and good editing platforms. Also, we had some difficulties while recording our video because we kept laughing at each other during the process! We had a lot of bloopers, haha!

Despite everything, we had a great time and lots of fun. I hope you guys like it too! And maybe you’ll want to create a digital story yourselves, huh? I’d definitely recommend it.

Flipped Classroom Approach!

Hey there, everyone! How are you guys? Well, if you wonder how I've been; these couple of weeks have reaaallyy been tough to be honest. It was just submitting one assignment after another and doing one presentation after another... Sometimes I feel like school consumes all my life... But no worries, your girl handles it all, haha! 😎 Anyways, today I'll talk about flipped classrooms and our assignment about them. Let's dive in! Well, a flipped classroom is structured around the idea that lecture or direct instruction is not the best use of class time. Instead students encounter information before class, freeing class time for activities that involve higher order thinking. I think a language classroom could benefit from a flipped classroom approach a lot actually. Language learning is mainly about exposure and practise, and a flipped classroom creates time for these in the classroom. Hey there! How are you guys? Well, I am brilliant ! I think that’s mainly because our midterm week is finally over. What a week! 😷😴 Anyway , today I’m going to talk about podcasts ! In our ICT & Material Design course, we had a task where we had to create a podcast. We were given several options to choose from, and the one I picked was this: “Your task is to create a 60-second (exactly!) podcast to introduce your own inspiring idea to improve the world / to make the world a better place to live in.” My idea was a challenge called “One Good Deed A Day”,  which is also the title of my podcast.
