AI-enhanced CBLP!

Hello there!

What’s up everybody? I hope you guys are all doing well. Me? Well, I just finished a really tough midterm week and still surviving, so I’m not bad at all, haha!

Today I will be talking about our first AI-enhanced CBLP (Corpus Based Language Pedogogy) assignment and how it went. 

We were supposed to create an AI-enhanced corpus-based teaching material along with a lesson plan based on the ASSURE model for the target group of EFL learners enrolled in a high school in Turkey. At first it sounded challenging, but the process was quite fun actually. 

First we needed to come up with exercises that first tested students’ background knowledge; then made them have a hands on practice with corpus and AI, and lastly, an output exercise. We are really happy with our work! 

After preparing our materials, we filled out our ASSURE Model Lesson Plan. Honestly, even if I think that it catches students’ attention and it’s enjoyable, a teacher might still encounter some difficulties while implementing this lesson plan to their class. There could be multiple constraints; for example a class environment which lacks internet and any necessary technology, or in some cases students might need a training on corpus and AI-use beforehand, and it could take too much class time etc. But nevertheless, under the right circumstances, I think AI-enhanced CBLP is definitely worth a shot!

Flipped Classroom Approach!

Hey there, everyone! How are you guys? Well, if you wonder how I've been; these couple of weeks have reaaallyy been tough to be honest. It was just submitting one assignment after another and doing one presentation after another... Sometimes I feel like school consumes all my life... But no worries, your girl handles it all, haha! 😎 Anyways, today I'll talk about flipped classrooms and our assignment about them. Let's dive in! Well, a flipped classroom is structured around the idea that lecture or direct instruction is not the best use of class time. Instead students encounter information before class, freeing class time for activities that involve higher order thinking. I think a language classroom could benefit from a flipped classroom approach a lot actually. Hey there! How are you guys? Well, I am brilliant ! I think that’s mainly because our midterm week is finally over. What a week! 😷😴 Anyway , today I’m going to talk about podcasts ! In our ICT & Material Design course, we had a task where we had to create a podcast. We were given several options to choose from, and the one I picked was this: “Your task is to create a 60-second (exactly!) podcast to introduce your own inspiring idea to improve the world / to make the world a better place to live in.” My idea was a challenge called “One Good Deed A Day”,  which is also the title of my podcast.
