About Me

Hey there!

I figured my lovely audience would want to get to know me a little bit, and I'm here to make it happen!

Well, I'm Sıla. I'm 20 years old, and I'm a student in Marmara University's ELT department. I loooove my school—mostly because I love learning. (Shout-out to our brilliant professors who make it happen!) I really like my department and want to pursue it as my career.

However... Although I love my major, if a career and a stable income didn’t matter, I would actually really want to be a musician. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 10 years old and have been composing and writing my own music ever since. My real passion is art and music. The very first thing I ever bought with my own money was my guitar, and she's my baby—haha! I think self-expression and creating things to achieve it is what human beings were made for, and music helps me do that. But given the current circumstances in our country, I can, unfortunately, only call something this special to me a "hobby."

Anywaaay, another hobby of mine is traveling! I really like exploring different cultures, but in my opinion, the very best thing about traveling is getting to try all kinds of delicious cuisines! (Is it obvious that eating is also one of my hobbies? 😄) So far, I’ve been to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia, and France. My favorite cities were Rome, Paris, and Vienna—such beautiful places!

Apart from music and traveling, I like theatre. I was in my school’s drama club last year, but I had to drop it because it became too much to handle alongside schoolwork. In general, though, I love love loooove being on stage and performing in any way—whether it’s music, theatre, public speaking, etc. Sooooo with all the presentation assignments (my faves!) we get in our major, I think I'm in the right place. 😄 That’s also one of the reasons why I love my department so much—you get to express yourself a lot! This blog is also a way for me to express myself on our course topics, and I think I’m going to love posting here. I hope we can have a great time and learn a lot together!

Um… I think this "about me" section got a little out of hand... I just can't stop talking about the things I love—haha! You know what they say: You are what you love, right? Well, this is who I am. I hope I managed to talk about myself without boring you guys!

That’s all I wanted to say—thank you for sticking around.

Your homegirl,
Sıla🙌
